the tease of sunshine

it hit 70 degrees today.
just a couple days ago, lexington was covered in snow and ice.
now it's the makings of a perfect day!
needless to say, today is nice.

enough of the poems, now on to work news:
we're going to keeneland tomorrow... hopefully it's just as nice outside and we can do cartwheels and ride horses after we drop off our finished drfs.
the world's most... (well, certainly one of the most entertaining) ---yes, i'll go with entertaining, janitor, sylvester, is no longer with us. my reign as "lil' mama" has ended.
in other news, shell survived a scalpel stab to the calf today. it was traumatic to everyone... except shell, who was a trooper! she even came back to work after she got a tetanus shot and her gash was superglued back together! (she said it looks like a fish...? i will have to confirm this later.)

snow day poem

i woke up at 8, and i was tired as hell
i tried my best to get up, but instead i just fell.
i stumbled to my window, i expected snow
and that's just what i saw when i looked down below.
i was awake, all cheery but cold
if i could get to work on time, then i'd be gold.
i put on my hat and my gloves and i trudged
actually, slid to work in the ice and the sludge.

when i arrived to work, i was filled with glee
there were only 2 sets of eyes looking back at me!
it was emily and david, my good friends from work
they both lost the bets on how late i'd be - and i smirked.
"no one is here today?" i asked david straight
"well, there's sylvester, who's been dancing since eight!"
he told me people will be working from home
which isn't fair because we'll be all alone.

but the time clock chirped and it brought me delight
sarah walked in and that means it's alright.
i'm happy work won't be such a chore
because now we have five people instead of just four!
it's important to keep people in good cheer
especially me because i'm the narrator here.
we'll be chatting it up, everyone with a grin
as long as people keep clocking in.

today i attended my first conference call. and may i say that it was all that i've ever hoped and dreamed.

i gleeked.
uhoops.

it's hard to be professional when you're trying to laugh (and snort) under your breath with your 4 bosses (one of whom you're pretty sure you just hit with your renegade saliva) at the table in the middle of a conference call.

today was good.
